Installation:
The basics of the installation are depicted here:
Install the harness
-Verify that the vehicle is off.
-Carefully remove the plastic cover around the head unit and unscrew/unbolt as appropriate. Disconnect and remove the stock headunit.
-Connect the 24-pin and 28-pin connectors on the AutoHarnessHouse.com harness to the corresponding connectors on the vehicle's wiring harness.
-Connect both black ground terminals (If your harness has them) to a screw or bolt behind the dash. Note that these terminals must make contact with a metal surface for this harness to operate properly.
Connect the aftermarket headunit to the harness as follows (If you are not using the Sony, Pioneer, or ATOTO Direct wire adapter):
-If you are not using the Direct Wire Adapter for Pioneer (AHH-70-1761), Sony (AHH-70-1761SO), or ATOTO (AHH-70-1761ATOTO), cut off the 6-pin interface connector.
-Connect the purple wire to the back-up lamp input wire on the new headunit. This is the wire that triggers the backup camera when your car is shifted into reverse. There is no need to connect the headunit wire to the backup lamp. This harness provides that connection.
-Connect the yellow RCA connector to the backup camera input connector on the headunit
-Connect the red and white RCA connectors to the auxiliary audio input connector on the headunit
-Connect the 3.5mm plug to the "Remote wired input" plug on the back of the unit.
-Connect the red wire to the same switched 12V source that your headunit is connected to. This wire is a power wire for the AXXESS ASWC-1 UNIVERSAL INTERFACE.
Using a Direct wire adapter? - Connect the aftermarket headunit to the harness as follows (Sony, Pioneer, or ATOTO Direct wire adapter):
-The Direct Wire Adapter for Pioneer (AHH-70-1761), Sony (AHH-70-1761SO), or ATOTO (AHH-70-1761ATOTO) will have a 6-pin interface connector. Connect this connector to the 28-pin adapter sold on this page!
-(For Sony or Pioneer Headunits) Connect the red and white RCA connectors to the auxiliary audio input connector on the headunit
-(For Sony or Pioneer Headunits) Connect the 3.5mm plug to the "Remote wired input" plug on the back of the unit.
-(For Sony or Pioneer Headunits - ATOTO units do not require the AXXESS ASWC-1 to retain steering wheel controls) Connect the red wire to the same switched 12V source that your headunit is connected to. This wire is a power wire for the AXXESS ASWC-1 UNIVERSAL INTERFACE.
Configure the headunit to use the reverse camera:
-This configuration process is different for every headunit. Pioneer headunits normally come preconfigured to accept the camera but it is possible that it must be reconfigured. This is performed by navigating to the home screen and navigating to "System" > "Camera Polarity" > "Battery"
Configure the steering wheel controls (Does not apply to the ATOTO headunit installation because ATOTO headunits do not require the ASWC-1)
-This installation will require the AXXESS ASWC-1 UNIVERSAL INTERFACE to properly maintain steering wheel controls. Most vehicles should be automatically recognized by the AXXESS ASWC-1. If the unit does not automatically recognize the car, reprogram the ASWC-1 by pressing the reset button on the ASWC-1 for 3 seconds, release, and then follow the instructions in the ASWC-1 installation guide.
